Below are extension publications and summaries of demonstrations and research conducted on various issues related to the management of corn for silage.
Pennsylvania Corn Silage Hybrid Evaluation Reports
2005 Reports
- 2005 Report with mean tables - The 2005 report in PDF format.
2005 Silage Hybrid Performance Data in Excel format These files allow users to sort the mean hybrid performance information by any of the performance traits. The files include data from the early (100-105d) test conducted in Erie County, the early meduim maturity (105-110d) tests, the mid maturity (110-115d) tests and the late maturity (115-120d) tests. Each file contains spreadsheets with mean as well as individual location data, plus some graphs depicting hybrid performance. A complete written report on these trials will be posted shortly.

Erie Crawford Hybrid Evaluation Program:
This represents a mulitlocation strip trial program conducted in Erie and Crawford Counties evaluating corn hybrids for silage production.

Corn Silage Bunker Density Study Report
- This report describes the results of a study focusing on the density of corn silage bunker silos over a two year period in Pennsylvania and provides some management recommendations for improving silage density and silage quality in bunker silos.

Interactive Corn Budget
- This spreadsheet can be used to calculate the cost of production of corn silage and estimate a fair price for buying or selling silage. The spreadsheet also makes price adjustments for forage quality and dry matter content.
